A Christmas Story

I love getting parcels in the mail at the shop, and today was no exception. It was from Hatched & Patched. There was Annie's new book A Christmas Story, patterns included the ever popular Festive Season, Advent Calendar and various other stitcheries. When a new book or pattern comes in I always take it home for a read. So tonight while LSH was doing the dishes ( I hear the same complaint every time "It's a Monster Wash Tonight!!" )I settled down to read A Christmas Story, now, I am an Old Fashioned Christmas gal at heart, but I love the Quilt and other projects, they're so quirky and a little eccentric, but what I loved just as much were Annie's stories about Christmas sprinkled throughout the book. My favourite was the last one about collecting a Christmas Tree and taking it home in the car with the dog and the spider. I could just imagine it. It was so funny. Now to decide which project to make first!! The tree takes my fancy or maybe the one with the Christmas bells. Everything about Christmas is happening at once. Maybe it's the snow.

Lots of rain...........

but NO Snow. I had everything crossed that we would get some snow where I live but it was not to be. We have celebrated a few birthdays in the last week including mine on July 10.  Dianne celebrated her 50th with the Friday stitching girls

and then on Tuesday Rosalie celebrated her birthday in between teaching classes that day

We also had new fabric arrive including some single bolts of past ranges.  A paisley from the sienna range

Our missing bolt from the Chelsea Boutique range from Blackbird Designs.  Now I will be able to start a new project that I have been collecting fabrics for

 

and seven new bolts  from the Chateaux Rococo range from Robyn Pandolph.  Chat to you soon........keep dry and warm..............Sandra

Yes it's finally here our newsletter for Term 3. Tomorrow ooops that should be today will be a busy day sending out to all our snail mail customers so that means lots of folding, taping and labelling.  Guess what I would rather be doing. VBG

More Christmas

Another Christmas range arrived today, okay this is just 4 bolts. It's called Hoopla. Delicious bright red, bold green with, I guess hoops or circles and a very striking midnight blue with bright hearts. The feature fabric is probably a retro look with poinsettas, holly leaves, Christmas trees, and highheeled Christmas stockings! It's really quite appealing. Could look great as a groovy Christmas stocking. More soon Lesley

Days of our Lives

Yes, I have to admit being a DOOL sometime junkie.. Had about 5 episodes on tape to watch, decided to skip the first 2, I'm glad I did, I've caught up with what's been happening with Lucas, Kerrie, Austin and poor old
Sammy. They are still going round in circles. The storyline was the same 4 years ago when I last watched it.
Can anyone go back further than (I hate to admit it 1968) I was home just after having an operation, there was nothing else to do but watch TV it was so hot. I have been watching DOOL on and off ever since.
Anyway DOOL at the shop today. I thought I might do some more stitching on my Snowman quilt, of course that didn't happen. I don't know why I "lugg" my projects to the shop, it's rare if I can put a stitch in. Filled in a few more dates for 3rd Term newsletter (Lesley, hope to see you soon.)
I made some more room for the new "Santa" range by finishing off "Ends of bolts" and cutting lots of Fat 1/4's to fill up some gaps, in between catching up with customers. I was just thinking, time for a cuppa, when a delivery chap came in with the latest Moda catalogue. We had heard about the Blackbird girls new fabric, (delivery later in the year) and it is quite pretty. As I turned the pages I thought each range couldn't get better. There are some lovely plums (haven't seen them for a while) and deep pinks and creams and too many others to mention. Looking forward to seeing the samples soon.
Another busy day tomorrow with Thursday girls, I've made a Sultana cake, might be some left over as Vicki is in America (can't wait to hear all about her trip) and Sue is off to Merimbula for 2 weeks. Hope she has a good holiday. These blogs seem to be getting later and later.

Winding Down....

The last couple of days have been busy at the shop.  I finally managed to get the delivery of repro fabrics that arrived last week on the shelf after a little bit of re-arranging, only to come undone today when our 12 bolts of Santas Got The Goods arrived.  This range has one of the nicest Santa's that I've seen for a while.  We also had 4 Moda ric rac's arrive that co- ordinate beautifully with what's left of our Chelsea Boutique fabrics.

Sue dropped in today with some show and tell and stayed for a cuppa with the social stitching girls. Sue is very much a machine person but has really enjoyed hand piecing and hand quilting her tablerunner.  You can see a photo in the Students Work album.

Well I've wound down now after a busy day at the shop, a trip to the hairdressers and teaching tonight. I always feel wide awake and  bit hyper after teaching a class no matter how late it goes so it's a good time to catch up on reading emails, blogs etc.  but now it's time for bed. nite all Sandra

More About Stocktake

Whilst checking off the DMC rack for stocktake, a mid year resolution came to mind:
Never take a DMC thread off the rack for a project without adjusting stock.
Anyway it's over for another year. I can now get back to some stitching.

Yeay! it's over........

Stocktake that is, well at least for another year.  It's a mamoth task and we have been counting stock for a week.  Thank you to Gail, Willy and Sue for lending a hand. Now we're onto putting the finishing touches on our newsletter.  We are still waiting on a few samples to come into the shop photos will be uploaded as soon as we have them. In the meantime here are just some of our projects to whet your appetite you can see in full quilts and more details in the Class Photos album.

Well I'm off to put a roast in the oven and then to baste a quilt. Cheers Sandra
