Margie's Quilts of Hope

This is the first of my catch up posts.  This is our second year of making blocks for Margie's Quilts of Hope.  These blocks are made into quilts and then auctioned. Funds raised go directly the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Thank you to Dorothy, Sue A, Sue T, Lyn, Nantje and Pam for contributing blocks.  I will try and be a bit more organised next year so that perhaps we can work on a group quilt. Catching up...

Hello everyone,  You haven't heard from me for a while as I've been unwell and away from the shop.  I didn't stitch, read or do much of anything for 9 days thank goodness that's all over with. I'd like to thank Lesley for holding down the fort whilst I was ill.  I was checking my camera this morning and I have a heap of different photos to upload going back over the past month. I will try and do that this evening and then do a series of catch up posts. Here's a taste of what's to come, Margie's Quilts of Hope Blocks, Stitching at Glen Harrow, another Hana tablerunner completed, not often seen local wildlife, a surprise for me from a happy customer and of course some new items for the shop.  Catch you soon.... Post Sale

Since the sale, which was extremely busy, we have been sorting out recent arrivals of fabric parcels, including two reproductions called "Coventry" and "Treasures Uncovered" in gorgeous reds, greens & browns also some shelf fillers in creams & whites which always sell out so quickly.  New patterns include some from Crabapple Hill one of which Sandra & I are busy working on for a new BOM , Bunny Hill Designs, a gorgeous Christmas stitchery  with lots of snowmen in reds white and creams (sold out already but we will get some more after, all I have to have one ) and a few  Christmas patterns from Viv's Creations including a lovely Advent Calender.  We have alot to do yet before this term finishes, so we have rewarded ourselves with a week-end workshop with Rosalie & Leanne at Glenharrow, where we can relax for the day.  More soon, Lesley

BLOUSE CHEST

Do you remember the Blouse Chest story?  The poor old thing that had seen better days?  and we wanted Peter to do something with it.  Well Peter did not want to know about it, truth be told he just wanted to make something with his brand new tools.  Several months later, the framework is finished actually that was finished ages ago, he has been sidetracked with one of my "wants".  He is busy making me an extension that wil be a sewing room, combined with a study, so he really has had a chance to play with his new tools. However he keeps looking at the Blouse Chest  and says "I really must finish it off".  So hopefully it will be soon.  Cheers Lesley

Hello....

Well it’s been a while since we’ve posted.  Lesley and I have been busy in our personal lives as well as at the shop.  Lesley Coleman dropped in her samples for her dolls a couple of weeks ago, and yes I've been a bit slack in uploading the photos but will do that as soon as I've finished this post.  We l have a couple of vacancies in some classes with others booked out with waiting lists. 

We've had lots of new patterns arrive from Bunny Hill Designs and Crabapple Hill as well as some lovely tins with Singer Sewing theme.  Of course I just had to have a red one to add to my collection.

We had a couple of quiet days before The Vic Quilters Showcase & Craft and Quilt Fair.  This was great for us as we needed to get  a head start on getting ready for our Mega Early Birthday Sale next week (more details soon)  We get really busy during and after the show as both our customers and we get inspired.  Many beautiful quilts on display this year as well as a Long Arm Quilters section.  We were delighted to see that our friend Hermione from Lorien Quilting won First Prize in the continuous edge to edge category with her beautiful butterfly quilting and colouring and embellishment

I love going to Showcase.  I've only missed one year since it started and I look forward to it every year.  Each year I come home inspired by all the beautiful quilts. The committee work hard behind the scenes to put on a wonderful display.  I can't wait until next year.

Well that's it for now.  I having lunch with a friend at the Reel Cafe in Belgrave today and I think I have just enough time to do a bit of stitching before I go.  Back soon.... Sandra
