Foothills Fabric & Threads

Hello everyone

The last couple of days in Melbourne have been glorious, warm days ending with a spectacular thunderstorm with thunder, lightning and hail and then back to blue skies (typical Melbourne 4 seasons in one day. I love it!!)

I am so glad I picked some of my white rhododendrons before the deluge they are brightening up my house on the cool, grey morning.

Busy times as usual at the shop with stock arriving that was ordered at the trade show, lots of patterns and notions.  We’ve also been re arranging the shop for our Christmas display.  I did take some photos on Tuesday but am having trouble resizing them so that they are still clear.  I have a new laptop with Vista home and it uses a different program to load my photos.  I thought I had lost them, but they were there just in a different place. I will re take some today with a different camera and see how I go.

 

Well I must get a move on, we have our Friday night UFO Christmas break up to organise for tonight, tomorrow is Leanne’s second class of Apron Strings and our Christmas Stitchery Swap is due on November 30 (Oooops I haven’t started mine yet)

Oh my goodness......

Lesley has posted a couple of times in the last month but I haven’t posted for ages I’ve decided to take Leanne’s advice if you have a break don’t worry just jump right in.  Well she’s really talking about journaling but I’m applying it to blogging.  So starting with today, I woke up to some much needed lovely rain here in Melbourne,

 I really just wanted to cuddle under a quilt and do some stitching but alas that wasn’t going to happen.  After a little bit of housework I dropped Amelia at school for another exam and then headed down to a Christmas Warehouse to get some more things for our Christmas display at the shop.  We are about half way through decorating and hopefully we will get the rest done tomorrow.  Those of you who know us know that we love Christmas.  Then I was back to pick Amelia up, a quick trip to the supermarket and then home again where typical teenager comment of “there’s nothing to eat in the house” prompted some baking.  A half hour later yielded a nice batch of Burnt Butter Bickies.

 

 Then Amelia added her own touch melted Cadbury chocolate yum…

Hi Ramona

"As promised.  Last night went well at our Christmas at Foothills.. Ramona did a great job with her name tags, but alas,  confused everyone with (including herself) her Secret Swap, however it all worked out well in the end.   We had wonderful Show & Tell ranging from a Santa named "Frank", Sampler and Hand Appliqued Quilts to Hexagon baskets and Christmas quilts, they were all inspiring.  Mother Christmas had us all laughing as she handed out our lovely Gift Bags of goodies. Finally, thank you Romana and all our Elves that helped out on the night.

Today was a quick tidy up of the house ( which I didn't feel like doing) as Daryl and the family came up to lunch.  Hayley (2 year old) loves climbing up and down our few stairs, she got a bit excited and fell down the last 2 landing right on the top of her head, I saw it happen but couldn't do anything about it,  they're so quick, a few tears later and she was okay.

Next drama, I hate Huntsman spiders, I freeze when I see them especially in our bedroom, Peter is always around with a jam jar, and puts them outside.

"What will you do when I'm not here?" is always his claim. I'll worry about that when the time comes, I say to myself, well the time came tonight, a huge one ,fortunately it was on the lower half of the door in the spare room (I always  look out for them at this time of the year).  Mortein at the ready (sorry no jam jars for me) I sprayed him until I was game enough to go near with my shoe, well you know the rest, all green stuff came out of it.  Yuck!  Hurry back Peter.
