It's New Years Eve and.....

I am having a restful break with not much happening, no sewing a bit of reading and spending time with my mum who is here visiting for a short time.  Today is Amelia’s 17^th birthday.  When looking through some old photo albums recently she remarked on all the cakes that I made for the boys when they were little and hers were so plain.  Well it’s not that they were plain they were home made by a lady who had a home based business the cakes were yummy and decorated beautifully.  Her godmother always organised the cake and we worked our theme around that.  In recent years I have made her a chocolate ripple cake for her birthday as that is her favourite but after her comments I decided to make her a cake. This morning I got up early and made some chocolate butter cake (from a packet no time for real baking) and now I’m off to decorate it.  I’m making her a puss in boots (she is a cat lover) I hope it turns out ok.  It’s been a long time since I have done anything like this.   If it turns out half decent I will try to remember to take a photo. 

We are going to my parents in law this afternoon and this evening we are having friends over for a traditional New Years Eve drink. I hope everyone one has a wonderful and safe New Year.  I wish for peace and happiness for all in 2009 and if you make any resolutions I hope you will be able to keep them. Ciao for now.....Sandra

Merry Christmas everyone,

Well it's 8.30am Christmas morning,  I've had a quiet cuppa and am now going to rouse the household.  What a change from years gone by with little ones up early to check out their sacks to see what Santa had bought.  The last day and a half has been a bit hectic but I took it one step at a time.  After closing on Tuesday, Graham and I did our Christmas shopping then yesterday was food shopping, a bit of cooking and wrapping presents, a Christmas Eve drink with friends and then helping Amelia put the finishing touches on the gift she is making for her Nonna. 

I feel very blessed to be able to have my family with me on this special day.  Lesley is spending the day with her family at her nieces.

On behalf of Lesley and I, we wish you all a very Safe and Happy Christmas.  To all of you who are working today a very special cheer to you.  Thank you also to all of your who have stuck by us through a very big year and have left comments from time to time. We do appreciate them.

Classes winding down....

Monday was our SBS break up for the year.  Lot’s of yummy food and as always good company.  I must admit I haven’t worked on my SBS for quite a while and it’s on my list to do over the Christmas break (my list is getting longer by the day VBG) Cathie brought her stunning completed quilt for show and tell and it has inspired me to get a move on.

 

I have uploaded more photos in the Sylvia's Bridal Sampler album, Student's work and What's New.  I had hoped to have lot's more in the What's New album to show you this week.  Amelia was helping me at the shop on Tuesday but unfortunately we ran out of time.  So until next time....Sandra
