ANZAC DAY

Just a short blog to let you know Foothills Fabrics is closed tomorrow Saturday 25th for our special remembrance of the ANZACS.. My maternal grandfather served at Ypres in WW1 and came home to his wife and daughter shell shocked.  The daughter (my late aunt) put together some beautiful old photos and sent them out to me from England quite a few years ago, one of these is a postcard of my grandfather in full uniform with a message on the back to his wife from Ypres.It seems to become more important as the years pass.  Something to pass down through the generations.

Whatever you're doing tomorrow please spare a thought for the ones who served and are still serving.

Chocolates, chocolates

and more chocolates.  The Easter Bunny was very busy at our place Sunday.  Eight (no nine inc. grandaughter) for lunch there was plenty to go around.  Wasn't it a great few days over Easter, hope everyone had a enjoyable time whatever you were doing. Had a relaxing day Monday after Mum went home, I always miss her when she leaves. Today was spent in the garden planting a few roses we had purchased over the last few weeks. The garden is taking shape now that a couple of gum trees have gone.  I confess I haven't picked up a needle much these last few days, I've unpicked a few pieces  a couple of times from a block I'm working on, I'll get back to it soon.  Well back to work Thursday, Sandra will be away on a retreat for the best part of a week, I know she will have a fun time.  Then my turn for a holiday on her return.  Not sure yet if we're going away.  Until nex time, happy stitching, Lesley

It's been over a week.....so this is long

Hello everyone, bit of housekeeping and then on to what’s been happening.

 

Normal trading hours apply for Easter Saturday 9.30am to 2.30pm but we will be closed on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Monday.  

 

Kelly of Fernview Cottage has organised a Quilt Show featuring Quilts for Bushfire Victims, so if you have a bit of spare time on Saturday the show will be on between 9.30am to 3.00pm at Burrinja Gallery (the old shire offices) 351 Glenfern Road, Cnr Matson Drive Upwey. Entry Gold Coin Donation

 

We are having another day for making QAYG blocks on Wednesday April 22 from 10.00am to 2.00pm.   While we were sewing last time we were discussing Leaders and Enders.  I first heard about L&E here.  Bonnie is very inspiring.  I had a heap of 2 ½” squares that I had swapped for a Y2K quilt just sitting in a bag so last year I started sewing I just add from my own leftovers as I go.  I start off with making 2 patches then when I have a stack if sew them together and so on.  I have been turning my squares into QAYG blocks.  I have uploaded some photos to the QAYG album.

Last Saturday was Lesley’s Saturday Sampler Class.  There is some stunning work coming out of this class.  I love that the girls are at different stages the new students are always inspired by those that are further along.  There are more photos in the Sampler album

   

And speaking of Samplers, last Monday I had a visit from Astrid and her daughter who is visiting from Sydney.  They had just picked up her quilt from Jo at Rustic Charm Quilting and it looked fantastic.  All it needs now is the binging.  It is always very satisfying as a teacher to see the finished quilts. 

Helen had been very productive lately with two tops finished.  Well done!
