Last day at Ringwood

Today is the last day of the Piecemakers Quilt Show being held at the Ringwood Church of Christ 13 Bedford Road, Ringwood from 10am to 4pm.  I love these small shows as you get a chance to mingle with the other stall holders and chat to the customers. I've only had a few glimpses of the quilts, I'm hoping to have a good look around this morning.

This is just a quick overall snap of our stand.  I hope to get some better ones today if I have time.

Dear Jane and an antique quilt....

 Another class has come and gone, the months are just flying by.  Over the past couple of months we have been focusing on foundation piecing and I managed to finish a block in class.

 

Next time we will be working on curved hand piecing. We started our evening as usual with show and tell I have uploaded some photos to the Dear Jane Album.  Seeing all the lovely blocks has inspired me again after a long break in my Dear Jane journey.  It’s been 11 years this month so I think it is time to get a move on J

Last Tuesday week I was lucky enough to see Nancy’s great great grandmothers quilt.  Well actually Nancy’s mum found the blocks in a dresser drawer and sashed them together and tied the quilt.  Nancy has inherited this quilt but little is known about it.  So once again I remind myself to label, label, label.  I have tried to research the name of this block so far I haven’t had any luck, perhaps it is an original design like many of Dear Jane’s. If anyone has any information on the block we would love to hear from you in the meantime I am going to think of it as Oregon Sunshine after a native wildflower found in there.

Biggest Morning Tea and QAYG

Once again we are holding a Biggest Morning Tea to raise funds for the Anti Cancer Council.  We are doing things a little bit different this year.  Usually we supply a little kit for a project with all proceeds going to the council however this year we will be hosting the more traditional fundraiser of cuppa and cake and will be asking for a gold coin donation. So if you would like to join us this Thursday and Friday mornings between 10.00am and 12 noon we would love to see you. We will hold our last working bee for QAYG for the Bush Fire Relief in June but will continue to collect blocks for Jan Mac to put together.  If you click on the link you will be directed to Jan and Christina's site with lots of photo's including the children of the Kinglake area wrapped in their quilts bfn Sandra

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all lovely ladies everywhere. If you're going out for the day or having dinner at home enjoy yourselves.  Isn't it a great day? I'm hosting lunch with my little family and then visiting my mum, with a few of us going out for tea.  Sandra has similar plans with her children and families.

PS Just a quick note on our Newsletter for 2nd Term.  Plans were going well, but with Sandra on her retreat and me on holiday for 12 days as you can understand we had a bit of catching up to do (no make that alot) also a couple of classes that needed sorting out with dates etc., so we got delayed.  All being well it should be ready in a few days.  Just a few finishing touches.  Thank you for for your patience.
