TRUNK SHOW

Last night we hosted Leonie & Diedre from The Quilted Crow showcasing their gorgeous samples of wool and patchwork quilts and projects.  What a fabulous night we all had.  How generous the girls with their time explaining in detail how they dye their wool and design with them combining patchwork with wool. They also had us laughing about their exploits on their trip to the USA last year. Forty of us packed into the shop and enjoyed coffee and cake while we chatted to the girls and drooled over their samples and patterns.  Hope they can come again soon.  Meanwhile we can't wait to start a project using the gorgeous wools some of which we have in stock, more are arriving any day.

Term 2 has begun...

What a glorious autumn day in Melbourne.  I am home today and hopefully I will have a little time to sit outside and do some sewing, before I have to go car hunting.  Yes my little car was written off due to hail damage from the storms that hit Melbourne in March.  Hopefully it won’t take too long, looking for a car is not my idea of fun.

 

I have uploaded more photos to the Show & Tell and Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler albums and updated the newsletter file.  I’ve also been re arranging the shop, it’s a big job and will take a few days.  I’ve started at the front door and am working my way back.  I managed to take a photo of Gail’s new quilt Avonsleigh (patterns will be available next week) before my camera battery gave out so I will take more soon.

I'm back

Hello everyone, I can’t believe it was February when I last wrote.  Thankfully Lesley has been keeping you up to date.  I had a lovely few weeks off with five days at Apollo Bay.  It was great to relax, reading, eating, going for lovely long walks and recharging the batteries.  As I write this post Lesley and Peter will have arrived in Tasmania for their long awaited holiday.  I am sure they will have a fantastic time. I  hope the crossing on the boat was kind to them.

 

I have slowly been uploading photos to the albums.  I have had some on my camera for quite a while so it was good to finally do those as well as class samples for this term.  Next on my agenda is to tackle What’s New.

 

On the sewing front I have been busy making quilt samples for the shop including the Double Wedding Ring which is for a class and the first two blocks of Leanne’s Down in the Garden Quilt.

 

Well I must dash off,  I will try and not leave it so long between blogs next time…….ooroo for now Sandra

Newsletter/Class List

Have been working really hard on Term 2 Class List.  Just have to finalise a couple of dates and costs this weekend and hope to have copies on the counter in the next couple of days.

In the meantime hope everyone is enjoying the Easter break, I had a big day with my family today. Hunt the Easter Egg was funny with my hubby finding nearly all the eggs, and teasing his DIL and 3 year old g.daughter, he tossed them a few to keep them happy.  

  The horse over my brother's back gate watched while we all played cricket.  Maybe he was the 3rd Umpire!!  Also not long until I go on holidays, next Monday off to Tassie, looking forward to that, as this is the first time over there.

The White Garden

We really are slack when it comes to "blogging", no excuses, just too many things to do, and this is one of them:  I have at last completed my version of Jill Grey's "The White Garden" quilt top and now it's off to the quilters. I am really quite happy with my choice of colours, it's quite dramatic and way out of my comfort zone.  My classes with this quilt are going along quite well.  The girls are so enthusiastic now they have
decided on their colours. Hope to have some photos of their work soon. 
Now I can start on some smaller samples for the shop, especially some wool ones, really looking forward to working with this rich textile.  We have been building on our stock and there are some gorgeous colours to choose from.  Will show some pics., soon.
